Scaggs, McDonald & Fagan: The Dukes of September
Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald and Donald Fagan are joining forces as The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue, which will be touring coast-to-coast starting in August.
Drawing from musical influences like Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield and Little Anthony, these singer-songwriters will be playing together a mix of jazz, rock, soul and R&B to honor the shows that were part of the “New York Rock & Soul Revue” of the 90’s. Scaggs originally performed with Fagan and McDonald in one such show in 1993.
Michael McDonald is excited by the possibility of playing with two old friends again, “The music of Donald Fagen (with Walter Becker) and Boz Scaggs figures heavily in memories of my early years in California. “Having the privilege to take the stage with them, two of my all time favorite artists, is one thing; but because they’re guys that I’ve shared such an ongoing history with, this makes it all the more special for me. I only hope it’s nearly as much fun for the audience.”
